At BC Infrastructure Benefits, every worker hired is required to take Respectful Onsite Initiative Training, which is an all-day training where Indigenous knowledge sharers provide education on the history of mistreatment of Indigenous people by the Canadian government, and Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion training is also provided. I was responsible for redesigning the brochure used to sell this service to other organisations that are similarly value-driven. I was able to build off an older design on Canva and make it more visually appealing while still making it concise and easy to read. The finalized brochure has yet to be available for public consumption.
I was able to significantly improve my design skills and experience during this work term through larger-scale design projects like this brochure, as well as smaller daily tasks like creating graphics for our HOBCIB campaign or for different career fairs.
This experience was unique from my other experiences because of the sheer amount of people that needed to be involved in the approval process for the brochure, as it is a company-wide asset that many people are responsible for. It was interesting to have experience with the creative collaboration process at a larger organization where there are many different sources of input.
